Located in the west outskirts from Haidian District, the Summer Palace is fifteen kms (9.3 miles) from center of Beijing. Bearing the biggest imperial park and being considerably kept, it was designated, during 1960 from the State Council, for a important Cultural tokens Protection Site of China. Comprising examples of the old artistic creation, it as well holds beautiful landscapes and brilliant buildings. The Summer Palace is the archetypal Chinese garden, and is rated among the most famed and classic gardens of the world. During 1998, it was recorded as one of the World Heritage Sites from UNESCO.
